Asynchronous Communication

Asynchronous communication is time-independent, so users do not have to be present at the same time.

  • Electronic mail

    This is the most popular and widespread network application of all and can be used for one-to-one or group communication

  • Mailing Lists

    These allow email to be used for group communication on an extensive scale, with one message being sent to many members. Mailing lists are generally subject based, with lists available for virtually every topic.

  • Newsgroups

    Newsgroups provide an open, text-based communication facility for global discussion. They are also known as News or Usenet news.

  • Web based conferencing

    Web based discussions used for group communication and collaboration

  • Interface to other devices

    The internet can be used as a means of sending information to mobile phones and fax machines.
