The House of Representatives of Somaliland and the Institute for Practical Research and Training (IPRT) today signed a partnership agreement. The agreement, signed by the Hon. Abdulqadir Jirdeh, Acting Speaker of the House and Dr. Ahmed H. Esa, Director of IPRT, names IPRT as a partner of the House Representatives. IPRT agrees to help the parliament develop external resources. In this partnership, IPRT will act as an external liaison for the House of Representatives.

IPRT is already helping the House of Representatives develop an in-house library specializing in legislative affairs. IPRT will also start developing training programs aimed at improving the functionality of the house. IPRT will start capacity building training for house staff in the areas of management and information technology. The House of Representatives will soon issue an official bulletin, journal officiel, and in the partnership agreement IPRT agreed to develop resources for the publication and production of this quarterly official bulletin.

IPRT considers the House of Representatives of Somaliland as the corner stone of democracy and good governance in Somaliland. It urges all of its supporters and the supporters of the House of Representatives to do their utmost in assisting in this effort.
